Summary
Greninja is a bipedal, frog-like Pokémon characterized by a predominantly dark blue body with a yellow chest and abdomen. It features white triangular markings over its eyes, light blue four-pointed stars on its thighs, and yellow on the lower half of its face. Its red eyes have white pupils, and its mouth is concealed by a large pink tongue that wraps around its neck and extends behind its head. A fin-like extension runs down the center of its head, with similar fins on either side connected by light blue webbing. Bulbous white bumps sit on its elbows and knees, while its three-toed front feet and two-toed back feet have yellow webbing and bulbous tips. This elusive Pokémon moves with the swift, rapid, and graceful speed of a ninja, using its agility to confuse opponents before slicing them with sharp Water Shurikens. It can compress water into weapons like throwing stars, katanas, and kunai. Greninja also excretes mucus from its thighs to create sharp projectiles capable of cutting steel cables. Its tongue, which is many times its own height and strong enough to restrain a human, is usually wrapped around its neck like a scarf to detect air movements. Greninja has two alternate forms: Ash-Greninja and Mega Greninja. As Ash-Greninja, its appearance shifts to resemble Ash’s outfit from Pokémon the Series: XY. Its skin becomes lighter blue, with reduced yellow on the chest and abdomen. The head fin and eye area turn red, while the side fins and cheeks become black with red streaks. A four-pointed star appears on its back for creating large Water Shurikens. This form is always male and stands upright. It results from the Bond Phenomenon, a miraculous power born from the bond between Trainer and Pokémon. This state enhances its leg strength and speed, making it difficult to see and allowing it to defeat opponents quickly. A turbulent veil of water covers it before achieving perfect transformation. Mega Greninja has a mostly black body, with the original colors retained on its lower legs, upper arms, and hands, resembling a ninja outfit. Its head fins extend outward and turn light blue, looking like shurikens with one edge longer than the others. The thigh stars are replaced by actual water shurikens. It clings upside down to a giant, spinning six-pointed water shuriken created from a gelatinous membrane. Mega Evolution enhances its reflexes, causing it to abandon stealth in favor of provoking attacks. It uses its speed to react and strike first, often distracting opponents with the sight of its shuriken before binding them with its tongue to charge in for a final blow. Greninja evolves from Frogadier and is the final form of Froakie.
