Kimblee, Solf J.
Summary
Solf J. Kimblee is a veteran of the Ishbal War and a former war criminal. His alchemical title stems from his ability to use sulfur within the human body to generate explosive fluids, effectively transforming individuals into living bombs. In contrast to his anime counterpart’s overt villainy, the manga portrays Kimblee with a more subtle and polite demeanor. He played a central role in the Ishbalan Extermination Campaign and was one of the rare, if not the sole, State Alchemists to harness the full power of the Philosopher's Stones produced at Lab 5. His personality appears divided; he can be curt, straightforward, rational, and seemingly civilized, even showing a degree of respect for Winry’s parents due to their dedication to their duties. Conversely, in combat, he adopts a foreboding stance focused on destruction and damnation. He once reprimanded Riza and others for being "ununderstandable" for refusing to accept their roles as soldiers and murderers, demonstrating his power by using one of his own subordinates as an example. While his abilities resemble those in the anime, the manga version allows him to transmute and detonate explosives from a distance by using the ground as a conduit, creating massive blasts, likely due to the power imbued in his Philosopher's Stone. Originally entrusted with a Philosopher's Stone made from Ishvalan souls, Kimblee swallowed it whole when the army attempted to confiscate it after the war. He is later seen deliberately choking himself to bring it back up for a closer inspection.
