Summary
Pei Ming, known as the General Ming Guang, serves as the Martial God and protector deity of the north, commanding nine thousand temples within his palace. He holds the title of "The General Who Broke His Sword," one of the Four Famous Tales, and is a member of the Three Tumors. Renowned across the three realms as a womanizer and flirt, he is drawn to women regardless of their nature—whether god, ghost, or human. However, he struggles with strong-willed and forceful individuals like Xuan Ji. His approach to romance is complex; while he offers tender and protective care without fostering false hopes, he also holds traditional expectations, such as valuing cooking skills. Pei Ming’s pride and arrogance often make him insensitive, leading him to look down on others, such as rudely suggesting Xie Lian inquire about Hua Cheng’s background. Despite this, he remains composed even in deadly situations, like the battle against Jun Wu, and displays a protective instinct toward his comrades, notably shielding them on Tonglu Mountain. He is also humorous and laid-back, capable of cooperating with figures like Hua Cheng. Initially suspicious of Xie Lian, he eventually forms an alliance and supports Xie Lian’s relationship with Hua Cheng. His past is marked by frequent embarrassments, such as being saved by the Rain Master multiple times, which caused him to refuse her sword out of pride due to their mortal history. Pei Ming is an honest and forthright man who never denies his affairs. He remembers those he has been involved with, ensuring they live lives of wealth and care. Hua Cheng confirms that Pei Ming is not a shady individual, a trait reflected in his honorable combat style, as he refuses ambushes and rejects Xuan Ji’s offer of betrayal.
