Summary
Hikigaya Hachiman is a seventeen-year-old high school student at Sobu High School, recognized by his black hair, grey eyes, and characteristically lifeless "dead fish-eyes." Belonging to blood type A and born on August 8, he serves as the pragmatic protagonist of the story, often described as an isolated and friendless individual whose cynicism borders on excess. He holds the firm conviction that the concept of "youth" is a hollow illusion constructed by hypocrites, rising from the remnants of past failures. This worldview led to his reluctant recruitment into the Service Club by his futures advisor, who hoped that engaging with the real world would reform his personality and transform him into a "better person." Despite his abrasive exterior, he shares a close bond with Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui, the latter of whom affectionately refers to him as "Hikki."
