Summary

Akihisa Yoshii serves as the primary protagonist and narrator of the series. A sixteen to seventeen-year-old student in his second year at Fumizuki Gakuen’s High School, he is classified within the F-Class. Despite his outward appearance as a bishounen, he is widely regarded by his peers, particularly female students, as a rare fool, a title even endorsed by his parents. His academic performance is notably poor, leading the school to designate him as a Kansatsu Shobunsha, or under observation. Safety is his paramount concern, and he is willing to employ cowardly tactics to avoid unnecessary harm. However, beneath this self-preserving exterior lies a righteous heart; he is generally peaceful, gentle, and kind, traits that earn him popularity. He can be surprisingly brave, often placing himself in danger to protect his nakama, with the notable exception of Yuuji. Yoshii’s lifestyle is shaped by his parents’ overseas work, which left him living alone and in poverty until his older sister returned to Japan to supervise him. Her strict management of his finances allowed his diet to improve from a regimen of salt and water to normal meals. Due to the lack of domestic skills in his family, he has become an expert in housework, particularly cooking. Physically, he stands 168 cm tall and weighs 58 kg, with a birthday on May 17, 1995. Although he claims to have been left-handed, he is currently right-handed. In terms of relationships, Yoshii admires Mizuki but does not harbor romantic expectations, believing that Minami hates him following a life-threatening incident. He is also the subject of secret merchandise and photos sold by Mutsurini, who dubbed him the hidden idol Aki-chan for his cross-dressing potential. His summonable entity, a Dullahan, is based on the Gakuran and a wooden sword, with the Occult version reflecting the "headless knight" concept tied to his foolishness. While the Dullahan has the lowest battle level, Yoshii can compete with higher-class entities through precise control. However, as a Kansatsu Shobunsha, he suffers the fatigue and damage taken by his shoukanjuu, prompting him to avoid summoning unless necessary. The school principal notes that Yoshii distorts the essence of the Test Summon System. In the 2009 edition of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!, he ranked eighth among male characters and thirteenth overall.
