Samejima, Ranmaru

Summary

Ranmaru Samejima is a kendo prodigy born on November 17th in Tokyo, known by the moniker "White Devil" of kendo. Standing 5.7 feet tall with type O blood, he comes from a family where kendo is a long-standing tradition. His dominance in the sport is evidenced by his top rankings in every national competition he entered, earning his title through exceptional speed and strength. During his middle school years, Ranmaru dedicated all his energy to kendo, resulting in a lack of friends until he met Kei. Kei fell in love with him immediately, and despite Ranmaru’s initial annoyance and disgust at Kei’s straightforwardness, he was impressed by his dedication and rusty skills. This led Ranmaru to invite Kei home for practice, culminating in a kiss that left a lasting impression on him, even if he did not admit it at the time. In high school, Ranmaru served as the captain of the kendo team. He and Kei eventually confessed their feelings and deepened their relationship physically. However, tragedy struck when Kei learned of his mother’s death during the kendo championships. Seeing his lover in distress, Ranmaru vowed to protect him. He kept this promise when a yakuza hitman attempted to run Kei over with a car, pushing him out of the way. The attack left Ranmaru paralyzed on his right side, leading him to believe he could never practice kendo again. Through extensive physical therapy with Kei by his side, he regained movement in his limbs and regained hope for his sport. Ranmaru is shy about expressing his emotions, having said "I love you" to Kei only once, though Kei understands his feelings. Like Kei, he dislikes the yakuza lifestyle that nearly killed him, although their lives are still entangled with it. He is kind toward Kai but sets boundaries regarding the younger man's affections. Ranmaru desires a brotherly relationship between Kei and Kai, hoping to prevent the strong animosity that currently exists between them.
