Summary

Belfangan Clouseau serves as the current team leader of the SRT unit, operating under the callsign Urzu-1. He assumes command after the death of Captain Gail McAllen near the conclusion of the novel Rocking into The Blue, a plot point also depicted in the first anime series. Clouseau is a pilot of the M9D Falke and serves within MITHRIL's Mediterranean Sea Fleet. His introduction to the team was unconventional and antagonistic; he offended Kurz Weber and Sousuke Sagara by disparaging McAllen as a coward while occupying the captain's chair, despite McAllen being a trusted friend and teammate. Clouseau demonstrated his expertise as a martial artist by swiftly incapacitating Kurz with a single move and defeating Sousuke and his Arm Slave, the Arbalest, during a personal test. He later showed his capability as a leader by explaining to Sousuke that his defeat was not due to a lack of skill, as they were evenly matched, but rather because Sousuke harbored hatred for the Arbalest, failing to treat the machine as an extension of his own body. Although Clouseau and Kurz rarely see eye-to-eye, they have developed a grudging respect for one another's abilities. Clouseau has known Melissa Mao since childhood, who affectionately calls him 'Bel'. He was among the few survivors of the attack on Melida Island alongside Melissa, Kurz, Richard Mardukas, Teletha Testarossa, and most of the Tuatha de Danaan crew at the end of the novel Continuing on My Own. The TSR OVA reveals that he is an anime otaku during his spare time.
