Summary
Mary serves as a mummified priestess and the foster mother of Will, guiding him through essential daily tasks. She frequently offers him bread, which Will later discovers is obtained through prayer, making its consumption a form of communion. Although Mary vowed to live in accordance with the will of Mater, the earth-mother, she entered into a contract with Stagnate, the god of the undead, to ensure their continued existence. This arrangement was necessary to guard the seal of the Demon High King, who was not killed by Blood, Mary, and Gus. As a consequence of this betrayal, Mary bursts into flames every time she prays to Mater.
