Summary
The Temple Demon serves as the initial adversary Tanjiro Kamado faces in his journey. This creature had been preying on travelers seeking refuge in a small temple hut along the route to Narrow Mist Mountain. During his search for directions, Tanjiro learned from a villager that nighttime travel in the area was perilous due to a series of unexplained disappearances. Upon arriving at the hut with Nezuko, the siblings witnessed the Demon in the process of killing three individuals. As the monster attempted to strangle Tanjiro, Nezuko decapitated it with a powerful kick. Despite the loss of its head, the Demon retained control over its body, which continued to violently assault Nezuko. The entity also regenerated a pair of hands on its severed head. While the body thrashed against Nezuko, Tanjiro intervened by tackling it and hurling it off a cliff. Although this action did not kill the Demon, the separation from its body inflicted severe agony. To prevent further movement, Tanjiro pinned the Demon's head to a tree using his axe. However, due to his compassionate nature, he hesitated to deliver the final blow before sunrise. Consequently, the Demon was destroyed by the first rays of the sun rather than by Tanjiro’s hand.
