Summary
Hyuuga is a Major and Lieutenant Commander within the Black Hawks, serving as one of Ayanami’s subordinates and primarily acting as his bodyguard. He is a striking figure, recognized for his tall 192cm stature, distinctive black sunglasses, and the constant light smile on his face, often accompanied by a candy apple or lollipop. Despite his imposing appearance and military rank, Hyuuga is far from serious. He is playful, silly, and treats life like a big game, maintaining a frivolous attitude even in life-threatening situations because he enjoys the thrill of combat. He has a short attention span, is easily distracted by new things, and frequently interrupts important conversations for trivial matters, such as spotting a bird or admiring a new stamp. He also struggles with laziness, disliking paperwork and often waking up late, which leads to him getting shouted at for slacking off. Despite his seemingly naive, cheeky, and even stupid demeanor, Hyuuga is highly skilled with the Katana, using it with near-perfection. He is incredibly loyal and caring toward Ayanami, whom he considers his "one and only king" and once stated he would do anything for. He refers to Ayanami as "Aya-tan," a nickname using the affectionate suffix "tan" normally reserved for children or pets, which would typically be demeaning to a superior. While Ayanami reportedly dislikes this nickname, he tolerates it, likely because he values Hyuuga as both a strong subordinate and a close friend. Hyuuga is devoted to serving Ayanami, valuing his life above his own and becoming annoyed when others speak ill of him. He is often the only Black Hawk brave enough to ask about Ayanami’s motives, and Ayanami trusts him enough to provide answers and show weakness in his presence. Hyuuga was the first to suggest recruiting Haruse, Konatsu, and the Antwort twins to the team. Hyuuga comes from a wealthy background, evidenced by his casual attitude toward losing twenty million yen to a scam involving a magical pot. He is friendly and easily attached to new people, delighting in teasing his teammates and pulling pranks, particularly on his Begleiter, Konatsu. He gives affectionate nicknames to those he likes, such as calling Kuroyuri "Kuro-tan." His antics can annoy others, such as offering a candy apple he just ate to Ayanami, but he remains cheerful and jocular around his superior. Hyuuga wears his sunglasses even while sleeping and keeps multiple pairs in his pocket for battle. He is supposedly the only person who has seen Ayanami sleep, and Ayanami’s pet cats appear to dislike him. Additionally, Hyuuga has created an Ayanami doll.
