Chiyo

Chiyo

Summary

Chiyo was once a close companion of Master Chin, with the pair forming a formidable duo defined by deep camaraderie that eventually blossomed into true love. Initially, she was a devoted adherent of Food Honor, possessing a soul filled with profound gratitude. However, her disappearance marked a dark turn where she defected from her beliefs, severing all ties with her friends, comrades, and lover to become a merciless, cold-hearted killer. She explicitly rejected the philosophy of Food Honor, dismissing it as worthless history. This shift caused her own connection to Food Honor to deteriorate, turning it into a liability during her battle with Toriko. She exhibits extreme arrogance, scoffing at the prospect of fighting Setsuno and viewing Toriko as insignificant. Toriko perceives her as an abomination, noting that her knife swings, once valued at one hundred million yen, now hold no worth. This drastic change in attitude stems from the devastating death of her son, which crushed her inner gratitude for life and food. Her grief was immense and enduring, with her mourning the loss even by calculating the age her son would have reached. Interactions with Master Chin suggest that his continued preaching of Food Honor after their son’s death only deepened her bitterness toward him and the philosophy itself. The hope of reviving her son provided the motivation for her to join the Bishokukai in search of Acacia’s Hors d'oeuvre, CENTER.
