Miaka Yuuki is the main protagonist of Fushigi Yûgi and a fifteen-year-old junior high student from Tokyo, Japan, born on May 12, 1977. She is initially motivated to become the Suzaku no Miko to secure a wish that would allow her to attend her desired high school and stay with her friend Yui. Outgoing and optimistic, Miaka is generally amiable and guileless, though her naïveté is occasionally offset by insightful comments that surprise adults.
