Summary
Shouko Kirishima, a sixteen or seventeen-year-old student born on July 26, serves as the class representative for Year 2 Class A, where she holds the top academic standing. As Yuuji Sakamoto’s childhood friend, she presents a deceptive exterior of elegance and popularity, resembling a Yamato Nadeshiko figure with a soft-spoken demeanor that masks a highly assertive and intelligent nature. Her dialogue is distinctively punctuated by ellipses. Initially, her lack of a romantic partner led peers to mistakenly assume she was a lesbian, when in reality, she harbored a deep, possessive infatuation with Yuuji since their youth. This obsession manifests in extreme behaviors, such as attempting to gouge out Yuuji’s eyes to prevent him from viewing other girls’ underwear, chaining him up, using a handheld taser for perceived infidelity, and even trying to file marriage documents at the civil registrar, an effort thwarted in the anime due to their underage status. Despite being deceived repeatedly, Shouko remains trusting of Yuuji, accepting his words without question. She is a pragmatic long-term thinker who has already predetermined the names for her future children: Shoyu for a daughter and Kosho for a son. Technologically inept, described as 機械音痴, she tends to destroy any electronic device she handles, though the novels mention she possessed a device playing Yuuji’s voice proposing marriage, which she dismissed as normal music. Although enrolled in Class A, she frequently associates with Akihisa’s inner circle in Class F simply to stay close to Yuuji. Her Shoukanjuu is armored in Samurai attire and fights with a Japanese longsword. During the ESB field error, her Shoukanjuu transformed into an adult version of herself dressed only in an apron and lingerie.
