Ferner, Anton
Summary
Known by the alternate spelling Fellner in Die Neue These, Anton Ferner began his military career as a subordinate to Prince Braunschweig. During the early phases of the civil war, Ferner orchestrated an unauthorized assassination attempt against Reinhard, hoping to eliminate the threat posed by the blond brat and prevent the empire from fracturing. Because Braunschweig had dismissed Ferner’s advice and disapproved of the plot, Ferner found himself unable to return to his former master’s side. Recognizing Reinhard’s superior capabilities, he surrendered to Lohengramm’s forces. During his audience with Reinhard, Ferner declared his desire to serve the new leader, citing Braunschweig’s failure to value his subordinates’ loyalty. Noting Ferner’s resemblance to the sharp-tongued and intelligent Chief of Staff, Reinhard assigned him to the command of Paul von Oberstein. Throughout the series, Ferner diligently analyzes Oberstein’s strategies and motivations, proving to be a valuable asset to both Oberstein and the Ministry of Military Affairs thanks to his keen investigative skills and occasionally unerring judgment. He is eventually promoted from Commodore to Rear Admiral, and assumes the roles of Investigative Department Chief and later Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Military Affairs.
