Summary
Karl Neumann is a male student at the University of Munich and the son of Schuwald and Langer. He attempts to grow close to his father without revealing their familial bond. His story intertwines with the mystery surrounding a deceased student and the disappearance of Johan Liebert, which coincides with the burning of his father’s book collection during a ceremony at the University Library. Following a reconciliation with Schuwald, Neumann remains to serve as his father’s personal assistant. He first appears in Chapter 47.
