Summary
Komui Lee serves as the Supervisor of the Black Order’s Science Department and is the older brother of Lenalee. His parents perished at the hands of Akuma during their childhood, and when it was discovered that Lenalee was compatible with an Innocence, she was forcibly taken from him. She was held at the Order against her will, so distressed that she attempted suicide and had to be restrained to her bed. To ensure her safety and allow her to feel more at home, Komui joined the Order. He is characterized as a whimsical, goofy, and occasionally sadistic figure who drinks copious amounts of Blue Mountain coffee. Lazy and prone to avoiding work, he often hides in the kitchen with the cook Jerry or employs gadgets like the berserk Komurin II to escape duties. His desk is notoriously messy, leading to a critical error where he lost Allen Walker’s recommendation letter, causing the Order to mistakenly identify Allen as an intruder. Despite his eccentricities, which earn him 99% trust and 1% murderous intent from his colleagues, Komui possesses a serious side. He feels deep guilt for endangering Exorcists and Finders, dedicating himself to creating protective uniforms and repairing damaged Innocences, albeit through painful methods. He displayed ruthlessness during the funeral for fallen comrades by refusing to return General Yeager’s body for burial and insisted on cremation. Furthermore, Komui defied Special Auditor Malcom Rouvelier’s orders to preserve an Akuma Egg, choosing instead to order its destruction. He shares a telepathic bond with Lenalee, capable of sensing her distress from afar and waking instantly when she is in danger.
