Tate serves as one of the twin Gym Leaders in Mossdeep City, Hoenn, holding the title of the seventh Gym Leader alongside his sister Liza. In the anime, he is frequently teased by Liza for being born a few minutes after her, which allows her to claim she is more experienced than him. He relies heavily on his prized Pokemon, Solrock.
