Summary
Hakurei of the Altar, a 270-year-old veteran and the Elder of Jamir, serves as the master to Shion, Yuzuriha, Tokusa, and Atla, while standing as the elder brother of Sage. He is one of the few survivors from the previous Holy War alongside Sage, having originally been designated to become the Pope before voluntarily yielding the position to his brother and retreating to Jamir. During that era, he successfully prevented his disciple Shion from defecting to Hades' side. Following Sage's death, Hakurei assumed the role of Pope, maintaining the illusion that his brother was still alive to preserve the morale of the Saints. Determined to break the seal that reduced the Saints' power to ten percent, he resolved to infiltrate Hades' territory alone using the sword blessed by Athena, ignoring Shion's protests. Inside the church, he effortlessly dispatched foot soldiers and faced Hypnos, who presented the defeated Shion and Yuzuriha. Utilizing the Praesepe Returning Spirits Wave, Hakurei summoned the souls of fallen Saints from the prior conflict, including Cancer Sage, to create a massive energy ball that distracted Hypnos. As Hypnos focused on neutralizing the attack, Hakurei unleashed his living soul to seal the defenseless Hypnos. Tragically, just before he could use the blessed sword to break the seal, Hades appeared and killed him.
