Summary

Kurama is introduced alongside Hiei and stands out as the wisest, smartest, and calmest of the four main characters. Generally regarded as the most level-headed member of the group, he employs an analytical approach in combat, preferring to study opponents' strengths and weaknesses before formulating a strategy. While he maintains a friendly demeanor, he becomes merciless toward threats facing those he cares about and has frequently demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice himself for the safety of his friends and family. Before his human reincarnation, Kurama was Youko Kurama, a cold-hearted, ruthless thief and the most feared bandit in Makai. Regarded as an A-class demon who eventually surpassed that rank, he was over a thousand years old. After being wounded by a bounty hunter in his spirit fox form, he sent his spirit into the Ningenkai, taking refuge in an unborn child lacking a soul. His plan was to inhabit the body of the developing child, recover his strength, and return to Makai after ten years. However, an act of selflessness by his mother, Minamino Shiori, revealed the pain he had caused her, leading him to abandon his original plan and choose to live as her son. Kurama’s primary ability involves manipulating his youki to transform plants into deadly weapons. He possesses complete control over all plants in the Human Realm and partial control over those in the Demon Realm, though Demon Fox Kurama wields full control over Demon Realm flora and greater power. The potency of his techniques scales with the amount of aura he uses. Although considered the second weakest of the four main fighters, peaking at low S-class power by the series' end, he is arguably their smartest combatant. Relying on cunning and tactics rather than raw strength, he utilizes his incredible sense of smell and ability to read lips to gain the upper hand.
