Summary
Ritsuko Chigusa is Kyoko’s strict and high-maintenance mother. Kyoko clearly inherited her volatile temperament from Ritsuko, a fact evident at first glance. Ritsuko expressed deep disappointment regarding Kyoko’s choice to marry Soichiro, going so far as to boycott both the wedding and the subsequent funeral. She only started showing up at memorial services with the ulterior motive of swaying the Otonashi family to her side and pressuring Kyoko into remarrying.
