Summary
When Yoki is first introduced, he serves as a corrupt military officer who imposes crushing taxes on the town of Youswell, driving its citizens into bankruptcy. The Elric brothers arrive and trick Yoki into surrendering ownership of the town, after which they report his misconduct to the military. As a result, Yoki is stripped of his rank and forced to live as a homeless person on the outskirts of Central, where he encounters the fugitive Scar. In the anime adaptation, Yoki informs the military of Scar’s location, leading to a raid to apprehend him; during this operation, Yoki is killed by Lust. In the manga, however, Yoki is coerced into working for Scar under the threat of death. Although he attempts to convince others that Scar is his servant, Yoki obeys Scar’s commands and addresses him as "master." Since beginning his journey with Scar across the country, Yoki has taken on a role as comic relief, often suffering pain when he attempts to act superior to others.
