Mihara, Chiharu

Summary

Chiharu Mihara is a young student, typically depicted between the ages of ten and twelve, who attends the fourth grade. Her academic preferences lean toward Art and Japanese, while she dislikes Mathematics. Outside of her studies, she is an active member of the cheerleading squad. She has a fondness for the color yellow and Freesia flowers, and her favorite foods include omelet rice and ice cream, though she dislikes piman. She is also known for her ability to make curry rice. Chiharu serves as a friend and classmate to Sakura Kinomoto, with whom she shares her cheerleading duties. She is also a close friend of Takashi Yamazaki, having known him since kindergarten. In the original series, the two are a couple; Chiharu often acts as Yamazaki’s conscience, stopping him from spinning false tales about the history of objects or events. Although she is frequently seen jokingly strangling him or dragging him away by his collar, their bond remains strong. When Sakura struggles to understand her feelings for Syaoran, Chiharu offers her advice on love and the importance of acknowledging one’s true emotions. In the anime adaptation, the nature of Chiharu and Yamazaki’s relationship is portrayed differently. While they are not explicitly confirmed as a couple, they are frequently seen together inside and outside of school, and Chiharu gives him chocolates for Valentine's Day. In a scenario where characters affected by the cards lose their feelings for their loved ones, Chiharu and Yamazaki interact as virtual strangers, highlighting their connection. In the English adaptation, Cardcaptors, her name is changed to Chelsea. Her relationship with Yamazaki is altered to that of cousins, characterized by sibling rivalry rather than romance. Chiharu is voiced by Miwa Matsumoto in the original Japanese anime series, Jocelyne Loewen in the Cardcaptors dub, and Dorothy Elias-Fahn in the English dub of the second film.
