Kurama

Summary

Known as the King of the Tailed Beasts, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox is the most powerful among its kind, often viewed as an ancient natural disaster. A single sweep of its nine tails is capable of generating tsunamis and leveling mountains. It possesses access to nearly limitless chakra, and its attacks appear random, driven primarily by an attraction to locations steeped in human malice. Twelve years before the series begins, it assaulted Konohagakure. The village’s ninja were unable to defeat it until the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, intervened. Minato sacrificed himself to seal the fox into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki, using the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. Instead of sealing its entire power, Minato only contained a portion, leaving the rest accessible to Naruto for unspecified reasons. Before the sealing, Minato provided Jiraiya with a key to strengthen or weaken the seal if necessary. The seal naturally weakens over time, and if it breaks, the demon fox will be freed. However, the bond between Naruto and Kyuubi, typical of the Jinchuuriki and tailed beast connection, means that if the seal is broken, Naruto will die instantly. Conversely, if Naruto dies without the seal breaking, Kyuubi will perish as well. Consequently, Kyuubi uses some of its chakra to enhance Naruto’s healing abilities and occasionally lends chakra without his request to keep him alive.
