Summary
Moritaka Mashiro begins as a fourteen-year-old student with no clear direction in life, a state of aimlessness that persists until his classmate Takagi discovers his exceptional artistic talent and proposes they collaborate on creating a manga. Although Mashiro initially refuses the offer, he eventually agrees after Takagi facilitates a romantic engagement between Mashiro and his crush, Azuki Miho. Together, the duo produces manga for Shonen Jump under the joint pen-name Ashirogi Muto. As the series concludes, Mashiro is twenty-four years old. He possesses considerable skill in illustration but remains deeply dissatisfied with his own artistic style, which tends to specialize in drawing fairly dark characters. Among all his influences, his favorite manga is Ashita no Joe.
