Summary
Schierke is a young witch-in-training and disciple of the witch Flora, often accompanied by her elf companion Evarella. She proves her worth to Guts's group by helping to resolve a troll infestation in the nearby village of Enoch, demonstrating the significant power magic holds within the world of Berserk. Following a devastating attack ordered by Griffith, Schierke is forced to abandon her home and Flora forever. Having lived a sheltered existence, she harbors a dislike for the Human world and the Holy See's religion, yet finds her time outside bearable thanks to the presence of her companions. Despite her youth, Schierke possesses impressive magical skills and worldly knowledge. Her most frequently used and practical spell allows her to hypnotize or temporarily desensitize others. However, her inexperience sometimes leads to dangerous overzealousness. She has the ability to sense Od, or spirit energy, which enables her to perceive the power, intent, and moral alignment of all creatures and artifacts. Friction often arises between Schierke and Isidro, whom she views as an incompetent monkey, a dynamic that frequently results in comic situations. Although she initially disliked Guts, she has developed a slight infatuation with him. When Sonia offers her a place in the Band of the Hawk, Schierke considers Guts before declining the invitation. As their journey continues, the group shares a deepening mutual understanding.
