Summary
Mikio Nagaoka serves as the young heir to the Nagaoka lineage, a household of distinguished former samurai who pledged allegiance to the shogun prior to the Meiji restoration. Following the collapse of the samurai class and the subsequent decline of his family’s wealth, Mikio and his misfit companions turned to a life of petty burglary, seeking to secure the riches and influence they had lost.
