Cancer, Manigoldo

Summary

Manigoldo serves as the Gold Saint of Cancer during the Holy War of the 18th Century and stands as the sole disciple of Sage, the Pope and former Cancer Gold Saint. While he shares certain physical features and personality quirks with the 20th-century Cancer Gold Saint, Deathmask, Manigoldo is fundamentally not evil. He often displays a somewhat hostile demeanor, speaking in an informal and humorous manner, while also exhibiting bold, aggressive, arrogant, and highly confident traits. Historically, Manigoldo viewed the deceased of all eras as mere refuse. However, upon meeting Sage, he chose to train within the Sanctuary to grasp the philosophy that every living or dead person is an integral part of the universe. Under Sage’s tutelage, he mastered numerous techniques involving souls. True to the oriental folklore associated with the Cancer constellation, he can send souls to the entrance of the Underworld using the Praesepe Underworld Waves (Sekishiki Meikaiha), which serves as the base technique for Cancer Saints. Additionally, he employs the Praesepe Demonic Blue Flames (Sekishiki Kisoen) to create an orb that ignites nearby souls, incinerating those of his opponents. He can also utilize the Praesepe Soul Burial Waves (Sekishiki Konsoha) to treat nearby stray souls as gunpowder, triggering a massive explosion. Beyond these spiritual attacks, Manigoldo can execute a physical technique named Acubens, where he uses his legs like crab claw pincers to slice an opponent in half.
