Summary
Dozle Zabi serves as the Commander of the Space Attack Force for the Principality of Zeon and is the second oldest son of Degwin Sodo Zabi. His strategic role during the One Year War involved maneuvering fleets across various points in space to secure Zeon's victory, functioning much like a World War II Fleet Admiral. Physically imposing with a tall, burly build and scars, Dozle projects a fearsome image, yet he is considered one of the more likable members of the Zabi clan. He is gregarious and good-natured, treating his troops with respect and maintaining a loving relationship with his wife, Zena, and his infant daughter, Mineva. He shares a particularly close bond with his younger brother Garma, whom he eagerly anticipates seeing rise to the rank of admiral. Despite his personal warmth, Dozle holds a deep disdain for his sister Kycilia, a feeling that intensifies when she takes Char Aznable under her protection. Following the battle that resulted in Garma's death, Dozle dismisses Char from his division, attributing the failure to incompetence rather than suspecting any foul play. His troops revere him for his willingness to lead from the front, often joining his close friend and bodyguard, Shin Matsunaga, on dangerous frontline inspections in his custom MS-06F Zaku II mobile suit, which frequently turned into impromptu raids against Earth Federation forces. His command center was located within the Solomon asteroid, later renamed Konpei Island by the Federation, where he made his final stand. In late UC0079, the Federation launched a major offensive using remaining Salamis and Magellan class vessels. After the Federation's Public class assault ships deployed beam dispersion smoke, Dozle ordered the evacuation of all non-essential personnel. Simultaneously, the Federation activated a Solar System array around Solomon, trapping any ships attempting to flee. To buy time for the evacuees, Dozle piloted the MA-08 Big Zam mobile armor out to engage the enemy. He was soon confronted by the Federation's Gundam mobile suit. During the clash, a kamikaze attack from a core fighter disabled the Big Zam's I-Field generator, allowing the Gundam to disable the mobile armor. In his final moments, Dozle exited the cockpit and fired a machine gun at the Gundam, causing Amuro to experience a brief moment of fear and doubt. He was subsequently caught in the Big Zam's explosion and killed, a loss that signaled the beginning of the end for Zeon forces in space.
