Summary
Ma Renka is the seventeen-year-old daughter of Kensei and a practitioner of Chinese Kenpo. She arrived in Japan with the intention of capturing her father and returning him to China. Physically, Renka is a fair-skinned girl with a curvaceous figure and a bust size comparable to Miu’s. Her navy blue hair is styled in an intricate braid that reaches her upper back, featuring two side strands and a back section that resemble cat ears and a tail, complemented by chin-length bangs and looping sideburns. She frequently wears revealing Chinese dresses that emphasize her body, suggesting a lack of modesty, and wears bells behind each ear. Initially treating Kenichi with disdain and attacking him under the mistaken impression that he was weak, Renka eventually developed a strong affection for him, which evolved into a deep love that she openly denies. This shift sparked a rivalry with Miu for Kenichi’s attention, a dynamic that often annoyed Miu but was softened by Renka’s catlike behavior, which Miu and Nanjou Kisara found endearing. Kisara, in particular, has a soft spot for Renka due to the bells. After visiting the dojo, Renka began to respect Kenichi’s martial arts style and offered him advice on developing his own techniques. Renka exhibits a tomboyish and hostile demeanor toward strangers, attacking anyone she deems an enemy or unfamiliar. She is fiercely devoted to her family, once expressing a desire to kill her uncle for disgracing the Ma family name, and uses forceful methods to ensure her father returns home. A recurring gag involves her chasing moving objects, a trait triggered when Kenichi surprises her. While she remains friendly and caring toward her friends and family, she can be forceful, though she becomes hyper and compliant when Kenichi asks her to stop. She acts flirtatious toward Kenichi in her attempts to win him over from Miu, while simultaneously being annoyed by her father’s perverted nature, often putting him in his place and reminding him of his duties despite her underlying love for him.
