Shin, Suou
Summary
Suou Shin serves in the Persecution Department. Born into a high-ranking family, he proposes to Shuurei strictly under his father’s orders, despite having no genuine romantic interest in her. Upon his first appearance, he is adorned with numerous tanuki-themed accessories, including a golden statue, which prompts Seiran to nickname him "Tan-tan." He possesses a strong aversion to exerting effort, which makes him both intrigued and irritated by Shuurei’s relentless determination to perform at her best. However, Tan-tan has a sharp ability to perceive the full context of situations and the true nature of people, rendering him a valuable asset to his department. He attempts to temper Shuurei’s naivety by exposing her to the darker realities of the world. Seiran views Tan-tan as a practical influence on Shurei and is surprisingly willing to converse with him. Despite this, she enjoys pelting Suou with bamboo shoots and forcing him to pay for random purchases, referring to him as "Saifu #2" (Wallet #2), following Ensei who holds the #1 spot. Tan-tan becomes entangled in the counterfeit paintings investigation due to Shurei’s involvement and ultimately arrests his own father, who was manipulated as part of a larger conspiracy. He later rescues Shurei from being fired after Riku Seiga steals her research proposal. Following these events, Tan-tan attaches himself to Shurei and officially re-enters the Persecution Department as her assistant.
