Summary
Hotaru studied at Shinigami Academy, where she held the status of Senpai to Momo Hinamori, Renji Abarai, and Izuru Kira. Her life ended during a training mission in the material world, which she led alongside Shūhei Hisagi and Aoga, when they were ambushed by a group of hollows. The depiction of her death varies significantly between adaptations; in the manga, the scene where she is impaled by the hollow is portrayed with far greater intensity and drama than in the anime version.
