Oonoki
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Ōnoki serves as the current Tsuchikage of Iwagakure. In his youth, he studied under the Second Tsuchikage, Mū, who instructed him in the use of Dust Release techniques. Later, Ōnoki took Deidara under his wing. Although he frequently claimed that Deidara’s ideologies and combat style irritated him, he harbored a deep pride for his student. Historically, Ōnoki engaged in battle with Madara Uchiha, a feat unique among living Kage. This experience made him wary of Madara, leading to his surprise when the latter chose to execute his plans from the shadows through Akatsuki. Unaware of Madara’s role as the organization's founder, Ōnoki had previously hired the former mercenary group, justifying the decision due to concerns over Kumogakure’s relentless militarization. He has also known A, the Fourth Raikage, since the latter was young. Physically frail and prone to complaining about his hips and back, Ōnoki projects an image of extreme pride. He refuses to retire or appoint a successor, insisting he remains capable of ruling, a trait Kurotsuchi describes as stubbornness. His arrogance often leads him to show little respect for younger individuals, such as verbally berating Gaara for his perceived political naivety. Deidara noted that Ōnoki dislikes art, likely stemming from ridicule of his Exploding Clay creations. During the chaos initiated by Sasuke Uchiha, Ōnoki remained calm during the Summit Room battle, allowing Mei Terumī to handle the immediate situation. He appeared entertained by the conflict, which eventually prompted him to join the riot. Ōnoki displays ruthlessness, attacking a heavily injured Sasuke after he had survived encounters with three other Kage. He claimed the Ninja World demanded Sasuke’s death, despite having no personal grudge, and immediately targeted a devastated Karin next. However, he demonstrated consideration by allowing Madara to explain his actions and reasoning with the Raikage before he acted. Strategically, Ōnoki appears willing to take risks, similar to Tsunade’s gambling habits. Recalling Gaara’s words, he admitted to Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi that he remembered being a kinder, friendlier person before becoming a stubborn elder. While physically frail and unsuited for taijutsu, his vast experience, including surviving a fight with Madara Uchiha, makes his knowledge invaluable to the Allied Shinobi Forces. Ōnoki possesses the Kekkei Tōta known as Dust Release, a rare ability combining Earth, Wind, and Fire. He is only the second shinobi in history to wield this power. His Dust Release ninjutsu can pulverize enemies into molecular dust, with techniques powerful enough to reportedly destroy entire islands. His Earth Release is also formidable, capable of turning targets to stone with a mere touch. Additionally, Ōnoki is a master of the Flight Technique, a trademark skill he can transfer to others. He can fly at high speeds even in old age, and the technique’s scale is flexible, allowing him to lift massive entities like the Island Turtle to transport it to Kumogakure.
