Summary
Hyō grew up as a slave alongside his best friend and fellow orphan, Shin. Upon Shin’s arrival at the village head’s home, Hyō befriended him and instilled in him the dream of becoming the greatest general in history. Very little is known about Hyō’s family or past. Although Hyō possessed swordsmanship skills nearly on par with Shin’s, he was significantly more level-headed and domesticated. He admitted to Ei Sei that he considered Shin stronger, lacking the same exceptional potential. Hyō was a superior cook and cleaner compared to his friend. He also demonstrated stronger leadership qualities, notably by charging into enemy lines and impersonating the King to inspire the Kings’ troops. Even after the truth was revealed, the soldiers remained captivated by his charisma and never forgot his sacrifice, highlighting his superior leadership abilities. The manga clarifies that Shin’s higher potential stems from his "gorilla" strength and a unique "ambition/anger" stat that enhances his power. This allows Shin to enter a state of tranquil fury, performing exceptionally well under pressure. In contrast, Hyō performs at a high but standard level under stress, which is adequate for ordinary people but not considered exceptional like Shin’s.
