Skunk Kusai

Summary

Skunk Kusai stands out as one of Osamu Tezuka’s more unsavory creations. He first appeared in Astro Boy as a minor but distinct antagonist, gradually taking on increasingly extreme roles throughout Tezuka’s body of work. Beyond his initial series, he portrayed villains in Lion Books, Black Jack, and Rainbow Parakeet, while also featuring in significant animated projects such as Metropolis, Marine Express, and the Astro Boy: Omega Factor title for the Game Boy Advance. Mirroring his real-life inspiration, American actor Richard Widmark, Kusai is rarely a member of the primary cast, yet he consistently leaves a lasting and memorable impression on viewers, sometimes overshadowing even the main villain of the story.
