Summary
Tetsunosuke Ichimura, known affectionately as Tetsu, is a young member of the Shinsengumi. In the anime, he is fifteen years old, while in the manga he is sixteen. Standing at only four feet nine inches tall and weighing ninety-nine pounds, Tetsu has rusty orange hair and brownish-violet eyes. He holds the title of Semi-Samurai and serves as a page to Hijikata. His family includes deceased parents and an older brother named Tatsu. Tetsu originally joined the Shinsengumi with the intent of seeking revenge against the Choshu clan, whom he believed were responsible for his parents' deaths. Although the group accepted him, they restricted his role to that of Hijikata’s page, a limitation that initially frustrated him. Despite this, he formed close bonds with friends such as Susumu, Okita, and Suzu. Through his time with the clan, Tetsu underwent significant personal growth, becoming far more mature than he was when he first arrived.
