Li-En

Summary

Li-en is the daughter of Li-Akron in Hong Kong, where her father deliberately sabotaged every one of her romantic relationships. She noted that every boyfriend abandoned her upon discovering her lineage, a pattern she attributed to Li-Akron’s overprotectiveness. Unlike the others, Won Rei remained by her side. Li-en trained him in martial arts to ensure he was unbeatable and tended to his injuries. When Won Rei expressed a desire to stop fighting to protect her, Li-en confronted her father. Li-Akron revealed that Won Rei was imprisoned on Yougan Island, miles south, in a cell atop rugged mountains guarded by his employees. Li-en was subsequently sent to Japan to stay at her grandmother’s house. While in Japan, Won Rei escaped from two of Li-Akron’s guards. Li-en encountered a spell book and stole it from Kiyo, later apologizing and begging for his help to rescue Won Rei. As she waited for Kiyo, the two guards caught up to her. The appearance of Zatch and the activation of Zaker, Zatch’s first spell, shocked the pursuers. With help from Kiyo and Zatch, Li-en reached Won Rei’s location, only to find the mamodo Zabas and his human partner waiting at the mountain peak. Upon reaching the cell, Li-en confessed her love for Won Rei. Although Won Rei ordered her to leave, she stood firm in front of the cell. When he reiterated his command to move, she questioned his motives, asking why he worried about her if he truly did not love her. Zabas insulted Li-en, calling her worthless. Won Rei broke free from his cell using the Go Boren spell and attempted to send Zabas back to the mamodo world. After Zabas was defeated, Won Rei carried Li-en toward a boat, where they encountered Li-Akron. Surprisingly, Li-Akron allowed his daughter to leave with Won Rei. Later in the series, the couple encountered Dr. Riddles, an event depicted briefly in the anime. Upon arriving in South America, they met Tia, Kanchome, Ponygon, and Zatch. The final known appearance of Li-en and Won Rei showed them in the ruins alongside Tia and Megumi.
