Summary
Junpei Iori is a sixteen-to-seventeen-year-old male born on January 16th, 1993, under the Capricorn sign. Standing at 170.5 cm with type B blood, he serves as the protagonist’s best friend, though their relationship is frequently marked by conflict. To conceal his deep-seated insecurities, Junpei adopts the role of the class clown. He wields a two-handed sword, swinging it with the force and technique of a baseball bat. His Persona abilities, starting with Hermes and evolving into Trismegistus, specialize in physical attacks, party buffs, and weak fire magic. Junpei’s journey with SEES begins when he is discovered weeping in a convenience store during the Dark Hour. He remains unaware of his potential to summon a Persona until Akihiko explains the concept to him. Upon understanding this power, he makes the quick decision to join SEES and immediately relocates to their dormitory, much to Yukari’s annoyance. The narrative later reveals that he once encountered Koromaru while fleeing his alcoholic father’s home, an event that takes place in the FES timeline. Shigenori Soejima, the character designer, considers Junpei vital to the narrative, noting that he is the most relatable character because he resembles a typical teenager more than any other major cast member. He also makes a brief cameo appearance in Persona: Trinity Soul, where he is spotted at a police station. His voice is provided by Toriumi Kousuke in CD dramas.
