Summary
Kuki Urie is a Nineteen-year-old Quinx and former squad leader of the CCG’s Quinx Squad. Standing at 173.5 cm and weighing 60 kg, he possesses a Koukaku RC type and wields the Tsunagi Bikaku Quinque. A Rank 1 Ghoul Investigator, Urie maintains a cool-headed demeanor, typically displaying a monotonous facial expression. He is stern and dedicated to his duties, often executing missions independently without waiting for teammates or requesting their assistance. This behavior stems from his ambition to achieve higher ranks without sharing credit, leading him to manipulate comrades or sow discord within the team. He is frequently berated for slaughtering ghouls excessively and for being hasty in investigating suspects. Beneath his composed exterior lies an insatiable jealousy toward his superiors, particularly Sasaki. Urie is convinced that ghouls must cease to exist under any circumstances and constantly seeks ways to surpass those around him. He even requested Professor Shiba to augment his kagune’s power to gain an edge over Sasaki. His rigid belief that investigators must never retreat is rooted in a traumatic childhood event: his father, a special class investigator leading the S3 squad, ordered his team to retreat while he fought the One-Eyed Owl to the death. Urie holds a deep grudge against Takeomi Kuroiwa and Iwao for not fighting alongside his father, viewing their actions as inconsiderate of his loss, and refuses to forgive them. An omake in volume 1 reveals that he is also a talented painter, and he has a noted dislike for sweet foods.
