Summary
At sixteen years old, Teru Kurebayashi stands 156 cm tall with blood type O. Following the death of her brother, she finds herself isolated, relying solely on the cell phone he left her for companionship. Through this device, she encounters DAISY, a mysterious figure who calls himself her brother’s friend. DAISY watches over Teru from the shadows, offering protection and encouragement through text messages and occasional physical interventions, such as hurling tennis balls at her bullies from a distance or hacking the school computer system at her request. Despite this deep bond, their interaction remains confined to Instant Messaging. Early in the story, Teru endures harassment from the student council and is maliciously drenched with a hose. A mysterious ball then arrives, scattering the bullies. While attempting to return it, she accidentally smashes a school window, leading to an encounter with the school janitor, Tasuku Kurosaki. After learning she lacks the funds to pay for the damage, Kurosaki forces her to work off the debt as his "Slave," performing his janitorial duties. As the narrative unfolds, Teru’s initial hostility toward Kurosaki gradually shifts into romantic affection. Simultaneously, she begins to suspect that Kurosaki is actually DAISY, raising questions about the true nature of the phone her brother left behind.
