Summary
Appearing in episodes three through five, Shibata Yuuichi is the spirit of a young boy trapped within the body of a parakeet. This tragic transformation resulted from a treat offered by the hollows who murdered his mother. Chad assumes responsibility for protecting Yuuichi from Shreiker, the specific hollow responsible for his mother’s death. Following Ichigo’s defeat of Shreiker and his subsequent transportation to the underworld, Ichigo performs a konso for Yuuichi, assuring him that his mother is waiting on the other side. Later, during the Rukia Rescue arc, Ichigo and Chad encounter Yuuichi in his human form while residing with an adopted family in the Soul Society. True to his word, Chad allows the boy to ride on his shoulders as they navigate the district. Although Yuuichi has not yet located his mother, he remains hopeful and continues his search.
