Summary
Zagine was a hired assassin responsible for killing Train's parents. Unaware that they had a child, he did not intend to encounter Train and allowed the boy to survive. Train subsequently lived with Zagine, undergoing strict and demanding training to ensure his survival. It was during this childhood period that Train acquired his signature traits, such as drinking milk and developing cat-like reflexes. Zagine eventually died, leaving Train to fend for himself while advising him that survival in this world required being the best. This advice motivated Train to improve himself with the goal of becoming "the best." In the anime adaptation, the events remain largely the same as in the manga, though Train is influenced by Zagine upon reaching Eden. There, he confronts a ghostly apparition of Zagine, facing him head-on and refusing to let the words affect him negatively.
