Ion

Ion

Summary

Originating from Daath, Fon Master Ion serves as the supreme leader of the Order of Lorelei, a neutral theocracy striving to resolve the conflict between the Malkuth and Kimlasca kingdoms in Tales of the Abyss. Standing 166 cm tall and weighing 58 kg, this 14-year-old wields a staff and possesses the unique ability to read the Closed Score and lift the seals placed on Yulia, though it remains ambiguous whether this power is innate or granted with his title. Although he is capable of using Daathic Fonic Artes, the exertion is severe enough that he nearly faints upon using them, a testament to his physically frail constitution. Ion’s journey begins when he encounters Tear and Luke in Cheagle Woods, joining their group intermittently throughout the game. While he frequently appears in character skits, he never participates in actual combat, likely due to his poor health. Despite his docile nature and physical weakness, Ion is far from a pushover. He is an optimistic, soft-spoken individual with a mature perspective who consistently seeks the good in others, even when their flaws are prominent. He is deeply concerned with the world’s obsession with the Score, diverging from his peers by believing it represents only one of many possible futures rather than an absolute destiny. Determined to maintain his independence, Ion refuses to be controlled by the traditionalist Grand Maestro Mohs, the Order’s second-in-command, and instead establishes a separate faction to oppose Mohs’s strict adherence to doctrine. As a leader, Ion strives for global peace and exhibits remarkable maturity, balancing his gentle demeanor with the resolve necessary to challenge the rigid structures of his organization.
