Summary
Sid, a man who died and became a zombie, was initially believed by school rumors to be attacking students to demonstrate the absolute freedom death brought him. He was discovered in the graveyard fighting with a gravestone as a makeshift weapon. Although he was targeted by Maka and Black Star’s team under the belief that Dr. Stein had turned him, it was later revealed that the encounter was a trick orchestrated by Shinigami and Dr. Stein to teach students how to perceive and utilize soul energy, a skill only Maka acquired. Sid now serves as a spy gathering intelligence on witches. He frequently claims he has always been "that kind of man" and laments the things he could not do while alive, which he now can as a zombie. Before his death, Sid was a three-star knife meister, a role now held by Dr. Stein. He continues to assist the school and its staff, driven by the conviction that this is what he would have done in life. His name is derived from Pink Floyd’s original frontman, Syd Barrett. In combat, Sid wields his own gravestone or Nygus in her knife form. He can also employ Azusa to execute sniper attacks. His signature Living End involves using his gravestone to pound opponents into the ground, generating a massive cross of soul energy, usable both on the ground and in the air. Through Compulsive Burial, Sid activates Soul Resonance with Nygus, stabbing her into the earth to summon coffins that function as escape tunnels directly downward.
