Summary
Arakawa is a young female researcher in her mid-twenties who serves as Professor Kakuzawa’s partner, collaborating with him to develop a vaccine against the Diclonius virus. Alongside Kohta, she accidentally discovers the severed head of Professor Kakuzawa and warns the boy to keep the discovery secret from everyone. When she later reports her findings to Director Kakuzawa at the compound facility, he refuses to let her go unpunished after seeing the horns on his deceased son. Chief Kakuzawa threatens to kill her unless she takes charge of her son’s research. In the anime, she appears as a minor character with little impact on the plot, often featured in a running gag where she complains that her heavy workload prevents her from taking showers. However, in the final arc of the manga, she assumes a crucial role in saving humanity.
