Summary
Born on October 13, Ruby Moon is one of the two magical guardians forged by Eriol Hiiragizawa, serving as the counterpart to the original guardian Yue. Although genderless, Ruby Moon typically presents as female. Upon Eriol’s transfer to Tomoeda Elementary, she adopted the human guise of Nakuru Akizuki to enroll at Seijou High School, placing her in the same class as Toya Kinomoto, Sakura’s brother, and Yukito Tsukishiro. Yukito is the false form of Yue, who remains unaware of his true identity. As Akizuki, she acts as a persistent nuisance, deliberately sabotaging every attempt by Toya to discuss Yukito’s fading energy with him. She claims an intent to consume Toya’s energy for herself, though the narrative never clarifies if she actually requires it or why she could not simply steal it directly. Once Toya successfully communicates with Yue and transfers his magical energy to sustain Yue’s life, Akizuki abandons her pursuit. During the final confrontation, Ruby Moon fights Yue and initially holds the advantage, but Yue overcomes her through his stronger determination and desire to protect Sakura. In the Japanese anime version, the character is voiced by Ryoka Yuzuki. In the English adaptation titled Cardcaptors, both her true and false forms are referred to as Ruby Moon, and she is voiced by Willow Johnson.
