Summary

Asuka Langley Souryuu is the Second Child, a title used in the Japanese versions of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and serves as the pilot for Evangelion Unit 02. Originally from Wilhelmshaven in Lower Saxony, Germany, she possesses a mixed heritage, having an American father and a mother who is half-German and half-Japanese. Her personal history is marked by significant loss and changing guardianship; her mother, Kyoko Zeppelin Souryuu, is deceased, while her former guardian was Ryouji Kaji. Currently, she resides under the care of Misato Katsuragi. In the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, her name is altered to Asuka Langley Shikinami.
