Marquis Wilhelm von Klopstock, a disgraced member of the Imperial high nobility, took his own life in 796 UC following a botched assassination attempt on Kaiser Friedrich IV. He harbored deep bitterness toward both the Kaiser and Duke Otho von Braunschweig, holding them responsible for the premature death of his sole son and heir, Johann von Klopstock.
