Summary

Fai D. first appears in the manga’s second chapter, depicted sealing King Ashura of Celes country at the bottom of a pool. He repurposes his creation Chii, originally from Chobits, into a net-like shield, ordering her to notify him if the king awakens. He then utilizes his magic to traverse dimensions, arriving at the shop of the Space-Time Witch, Yuuko Ichihara. Among his travel companions, Fai’s motivations for joining the group remain the most ambiguous. He is the sole member to reach Yuuko’s shop through his own efforts, having arrived intentionally. His original wish was to never return to Celes country; however, because the price for this wish would have been too high, he chooses to travel across worlds with the group instead. He harbors a fear of King Ashura’s awakening, believing the king will pursue him through different dimensions, though the root cause of this fear is currently unknown. Regarding his name, CLAMP states the correct pronunciation rhymes with "eye." Although they initially considered spelling it "Fay," they feared this would confuse readers and ultimately retained the spelling "Fai." In the setting of Horitsuba Gakuen, he serves as the chemistry teacher.
