Summary

Zorua is a fox-like Pokémon with slate gray fur and distinctive red and black accents. It features triangular ears with dark interiors, a large red-tipped tuft of fur on its head, and greenish-blue eyes framed by red eyelids and circular red markings that resemble eyebrows. Its short, tapered muzzle reveals small upper fangs, while a black fur ruff surrounds its neck. The Pokémon has four short limbs and a bushy tail, both tipped with red. Zorua possesses the ability to alter its physical appearance through illusion, though it retains its original type and moves during these transformations. Driven by a timid nature, Zorua hides its true form for safety and uses illusions to mimic other Pokémon to scare off threats or disguise itself as a silent child to scavenge for food. It occasionally replaces talkative children and can release pitch-black shock waves at targets. In its movie debut, it was shown that an unpracticed Zorua’s human illusion may retain its tail; touching this tail forces it to revert to its true form. Generally mischievous, Zorua enjoys surprising others. Hisuian Zorua is a regional variant. Due to persecution by humans for its illusions and the harsh environment of Hisui, the souls of deceased Zorua were reborn through malice toward humans and Pokémon. This form has light gray fur with red and white accents, split gray ears with red tips, golden yellow eyes with pink eyelids, and black-tipped limbs. Its head tuft, neck ruff, and tail are white at the base with smooth, long wisps fading to red. Unlike its Unovan counterpart, Hisuian Zorua has a melancholy expression rather than a mischievous one. Hisuian Zorua casts illusions by channeling its resentful power through its ghostly fur, particularly atop its head. It attacks with chilling resentment and may appear as a horrifying illusion of a lone human or Pokémon it encounters, drawing strength from the terror it causes. It resides in cold areas and can still disguise itself as other Pokémon to obtain food, easily deceiving observers. Zorua evolves into Zoroark. Hisuian Zorua evolves into Hisuian Zoroark.
