Summary
Kanuka is a temporary member of Section 2 Division 2 Team 2, seconded from the NYPD to observe a labor unit with the goal of helping establish a similar operation in New York City. While she is highly capable in all duties and possesses piloting skills that surpass Ohta’s, she is assigned to backup duty because integrating a Labor with a temporary officer is deemed unwise, and managing Ohta is considered beneath her. Like Nagumo, Kanuka is strictly by-the-book, often displaying a cold, all-business demeanor toward the SV.2 members, with the notable exception of Noa. Born in Hawaii, she later relocated to New York but returns to Hawaii to visit her beloved grandmother. Her formidable piloting abilities are so respected that Goto summoned her to assist SV2 in the first movie.
